TINKER's Story
Reason animal needs rescue: This cat has a history of chronic facial skin irritation consistent with allergic dermatitis (either feline atopic dermatitis or food allergy, the biopsy results indicate that food allergy should be strongly considered). There was severe secondary infection, which was cultured and treated with antibiotics - the infection has cleared and the skin is healing at the face. The cat has been on hydrolyzed diet in-shelter and in foster. This cat will need hypoallegenic diet long-term, and may need environmental allergy testing or chronic immunomodulatory medications if itching persists or lesiosn recur despite z/d diet. This cat is also FIV+, and has a neutropenia (low white cell count) and anemia of unknown origin, which may be or may not be related to his FIV+ status. He is currently being treated supportively for diarrhea and some mild conjunctivitis. The foster has noticed him to drink and urinate often. Medical has rule out diabetes, and the cause for this behavior has not been identified yet. He is affiliative and friendly. Type: Medical Date animal needs rescue by: asap Impound type: Stray 12/29/25 10:11 Dermatitis on head has almost completely resolved. P has FIV. In need of rescue. Changing status to urgent.
