Tina's Story
Meet Tina – A Good Cat Having a Hard Time

Tina is 6 years old, and for most of her life, she was a happy house cat. Adopted as a kitten, she grew up in a home where she was friendly, easy to handle, and a loving companion. But recently, her world was turned completely upside down.

Tina was returned to the shelter after struggling in a chaotic household. The visiting children and constant activity overwhelmed her, leading to stress-related litter box issues. Since coming back to us, Tina has been diagnosed with early kidney disease, which is being successfully managed with a prescription kidney diet (Hill’s k/d). She’s also on a healthy weight loss journey — and we’re happy to report her litter box troubles have resolved.

What hasn’t resolved is her heartbreak.

The shelter environment is incredibly hard on Tina. The noise. The other cats. The constant commotion. She hates it. She is overstimulated, stressed, and defensive. Here, she can be very swatty — not because she’s mean, but because she’s overwhelmed and trying to protect herself. This is not the Tina we knew in her home.

We need someone to see past the scared, reactive shelter version of her and trust who she truly is.

In a calm, predictable, adult-only home — with no other pets — Tina has every chance of becoming that friendly, easy companion again. She needs quiet. She needs stability. She needs someone willing to give her the space to decompress and rediscover herself.

Tina is not thriving here. She is surviving.

If you can offer a peaceful home, patience, and a chance for her to breathe again, we believe you will see the real Tina — the loving girl we know is still in there. She just needs someone brave enough to take a chance on her.
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FMAS/Cat
