Tigytig's Story
TigyTig was born with an esophageal issue He has been seen at WSU and with several diagnostics done. It was determined he has a rare condition called Esophagitis is the term applied to inflammation of the esophagus -- the muscular tube that carries food down from the mouth cavity to the stomach. Gastrointestinal reflux, or acid reflux, is the most common cause of esophagitis in cats. Acid reflux is the result of stomach acids passing into the esophageal canal, causing irritation to the tissue lining of the esophagus.
He requires mainly soft food blended into a slurry and fed small amounts throughout the day. We have tried a special diet with him restricting it to a specific protein with no dry kibble. We are slowly introducing other food and some small dry kibble which he is tolerating so far. This will be a life-long condition for him.
If you ask Tigy how he is feeling? He would say AWESOME!! He loves food and can get quite creative to get into other cats food. He gets along with other cats but cannot be allowed to free-feed like most cats can. He is very affectionate and playful. He can be quite comical in his antics and love for life.
If you are interested in learning more about TigyTig, please call the rescue at (208) 448-0699.
