Tiger's Story

Tiger’s story begins with loss—his human passed away, and with that, the only home he had ever known disappeared. Instead of comfort or care, Tiger and four other cats were discarded like trash at a trailer park, left to fend for themselves outside. At just three years old, Tiger was still a baby in so many ways, yet his short life had already been marked by heartbreak and hardship.

The neighbors noticed him struggling. Tiger couldn’t eat solid food, and each day he grew weaker. They reached out to **Meow Mission**, and that call changed everything for him. When we brought Tiger in, we quickly realized how much he had been suffering. His mouth was full of severely diseased teeth caused by stomatitis, making every attempt to eat excruciating. On top of that, he had serious digestive issues and spent several vet visits just trying to get his stools under control—likely made worse by being given milk while he was trying to survive on the streets.

Tiger needed a full-mouth dental extraction, and in an effort to save money (as rescues so often must), we were referred to a different vet out of town. What should have brought him relief instead caused unimaginable pain. Without publicly bashing a veterinary office, the reality is that Tiger’s dental was botched. Broken teeth and roots were left behind, leading to severe inflammation and ongoing agony. Tiger suffered—far more than any cat ever should.

Emergency care brought him to the **amazing Thompson Hills Vet Clinic**, where Dr. McNeal and his incredible, compassionate staff immediately stepped in to save him. Tiger spent two long weeks there as they re-did the dental surgery properly, placed a feeding tube, managed his pain with multiple medications, and finally gave his body the chance to heal. What could have been a $1,500 procedure ended up costing $600 initially—and nearly $3,900 more to fix what went wrong. But far beyond the financial cost was the pain Tiger endured. Anyone who has had even one tooth pulled knows how bad that hurts—now imagine all of them, and then having to go back again because pieces were left behind.

This experience reinforced a lesson we’ve learned too many times: while we do try to utilize lower-cost veterinary options when possible, we also need reliable, exceptional care. Too often, “saving money” has meant turning to Dr. McNeal to fix what others could not. He and his team are truly trusted—not just with rescue animals, but with our own personal pets as well.

Through it all, Tiger remained gentle. Forgiving. Resilient.

Today, he is healed and thriving. He is playful, loving, and clearly relieved to finally be out of pain. He eats both wet and dry food, gets along beautifully with other cats, naps hard, plays harder, and is *perfectly* box trained. Somehow, after everything he’s been through, Tiger still loves people—and he has even forgiven us for the difficult road it took to get him well.

Now, Tiger needs just one more miracle: a **forever family**. A home where he will never be abandoned again. A family who will see not just his scars, but his sweetness. A place where he can finally live the life he deserves—safe, loved, and cherished.

Tiger has endured more in three years than many ever will. What he wants now is simple: a loving family to call his very own.

We won’t share the “bad photos” when we had Tiger for two days post-initial surgery, but we want to share how handsome he is now! Even with no teeth…🩷

Altered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, FIV/FeLV negative, given dewormer and kept on flea preventative.

Apply to adopt here
https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAE/Cat

***Please apply using either of these links: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAE/Dog https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAE/Cat We usually try to process applications within 48 hours. Don't worry if the pet you are interested in gets removed from Petfinder in the meantime, we will move pets to "adoption pending" at times when processing applications. If you have not heard back from Pawsibilities within 72 hours, please feel free to contact us at Calliepawsibilities@gmail.com for an update. ***Please if you have a current or previous vet, list the vet's name and contact number as this will make the process quicker; maybe even call the vet's office to let them know they can provide information to us as many vet clinics need pre-approval from their clients. ***Please provide us with the name the vet records would be under (human name and furry friend) if those names differ from the names on he application. ***If it's a weekend or holiday, you can send copies of your records to us by email at Calliepawsibilities@gmail.com so we don't have to delay the process by waiting for the vet office to open. We do adopt out of state in many circumstances; when this occurs we do prefer our adopters come meet their adoptive furry family member in person. However, we do transport to other states as well and the adopter covers any transport charges. ***We are a foster-based program only so there is no physical facility. ***We do prefer to have an application on file before setting up Meet and Greets.
