Tico's Story

Meet Tico!

Tico is a 7-month-old playful little guy with a whole lot of personality packed into a small body. He's curious, affectionate, and loves to be right in the middle of whatever is happening around him.

Tico has been diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis, a condition discovered after multiple sedated procedures. Unfortunately, his condition has not responded to oral medications, and due to his young age and small size, surgical options such as a stent were not recommended because of the high risk of rejection.

What does this mean for Tico?

Tico will need a special adopter--someone who can offer love, understanding, and realistic expectations. If his condition worsens, it may shorten his life expectancy, and he will require ongoing veterinary follow-up. At times, Tico may experience mucus buildup that could require a sedated airway flush to help him breathe more comfortably.

Because of his condition, Tico:
* Is heat sensitive
* Often yawns to help stretch his airway
* Has a loud, vibrating purr that makes him extra endearing

Despite his medical needs, Tico lives life to the fullest. He does wonderfully with other cats, respectful kids, and dogs. If there's a dog in the home, adopters should know that Tico is very enthusiastic about dog food, so mealtimes will need to be monitored to keep everyone safe.

Tico isn't defined by his diagnosis--he's defined by his joy, his playfulness, and the love he so freely gives. He's looking for a home that will cherish him for exactly who he is and walk alongside him for whatever his journey brings.

If you're someone who believes that even a shorter chapter can still be filled with incredible love, Tico just might be your perfect match!
