THOR - LOOK AT THAT FACE! HE'S AWESOME!'s Story

Thor was brought into FFAR's foster/adoption program when a woman reached out to us with this: "Can anyone help this poor fella? He showed up in a backyard in Dallas, TX, a few months ago. A woman is feeding him and trying to find him a rescue or home. She cannot take him in due to her situation. He is beat up but sweet as can be. She did have him neutered." The pictures she sent clinched it. What a cat! His foster mom absolutely adores the toms that obviously have seen hard times, but when neutered and brought inside, they are total teddy bears. Thor is no exception. He is absolutely the chillest cat and gets along without any reaction to everything - dogs, cats and kids. He's a big guy, almost 16 pounds, so there's lots of him to love. If interested in meeting and possibly adopting this awesome guy, go to furryfriendsanimalrescue.org and submit an application. You will be contacted within 24 hours (if not, please check your spam folder).

NOTE: Thor is FIV positive, but don't let this scare you! Thor is young and perfectly healthy, except that he carries this virus. FIV is feline immunodeficiency virus. Cats can live long, healthy lives with FIV. FIV is primarily transmitted to other cats via bites (must be transmitted through blood) and is not transferred via litterboxes or food bowls. The virus only lives outside the cat for 2-3 hours so it is not contagious to other cats in non-aggressive households. Actually, many people own FIV+ cats and do not even know they carry this virus. It is asymptomatic and unless a blood test is performed, there is no way of knowing if a cat has it. FIV is ABSOLUTELY NOT transmittable to humans or dogs.

NOTE: The last three pics were sent to us in the email asking for help. He's been cleaned up and looks like first two pics now.

Furry Friends Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
We are a new group and we will be rescuing more as we recruit new foster homes - so check back often! We do not adopt on a first-come, first-served basis - it is our goal to find the right home for the cat or dog as well as ensuring that the cat or dog is the right match for its new family. A win/win situation. We do home visits for our dogs. Our Adoption Fees are $160 for cats and $250 for dogs. All our cats and dogs are fully vetted prior to adoption - this includes all age-appropriate vaccinations, feline leukemia/aids testing, heartworm tests, deworming, spay or neuter, microchips and other medical treatment as required. You can fill out an Adoption Application online on our website. All our cats and dogs live in foster homes so we don't have a physical shelter for you to visit. If you are interested in meeting any of our cats or dogs, just send us a an email or fill out an Adoption Application on our website.
