Teddy's Story

Hi, my name is Teddy, Teds, Teddy Bear (my foster mom can’t make up her mind). I was a stray living at Lake George, in Plantagenet and was brought in because I had a pull tab stuck on my left front paw. The pull tab was embedded in my skin, my toe was fractured, and it was quite infected. The humans thought I might have to lose it, but I got to keep my toe after all. I have this thing called FIV. (Note: this stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. FIV gradually weakens a cat's immune system over several years. It is a cat-only disease and doesn't pose a risk to humans, It is only transmitted between cats through deep, penetrating bite wounds. Many FIV-positive cats live long, healthy lives without showing virus symptoms.) I have never been around dogs or young children, so I don't know how I would do with them. I like being around older children and would probably do best with another cat to play with, since I love my foster cat brother. My injured toe is a bit longer than the others, my tail has a kink, I have the chubbiest cheeks, I’m a big boy, and my ears and toe beans have some frostbite, but I am still as cute as ever (my foster mom told me so). I was born around January 2023 and LOVE to be indoors. Living outdoors was tough!

I have a very funny ritual. When my foster family walks into my room, I drop to the floor and roll back and forth to show them how happy I am and to show off my soft belly. I then have to demonstrate how well I can scratch my scratching post and sing (meow) until my foster family feeds me. I show my appreciation by walking back and forth around them and rubbing up against their legs. I love to play and run really fast (I think I’m fast but my mom laughs at my silly, awkward, jumpy run). I also LOVE to snuggle on my foster family’s lap, make biscuits, suckle my blanket, purr, and stare at my foster family until I fall asleep. I’m a real snuggle bug who also likes to give nose to nose kisses. I'm obsessed with my scratching post, ribbon and feather wands, catnip stick, and tunnel. When I’m in my tunnel, I’m invisible and can sneak up and surprise my wand. I also make these funny sounding grunting noises when I’m hunting my wand and my foster mom tells me that I have a tiny little snore when I sleep.

When anyone pets me, I prefer it when they let me sniff their hand first and then move slowly to the side of my head to give me scratches. Fast movements still scare me and make my mouth want to give you a quick little bite. Since my temporary home is in the playroom for now, I’m sad when my foster family leaves so I try to grab their legs with my teethies or clawsies to keep them with me a little longer. I won’t have to do that with my forever family since we will be sharing the whole home together and I will always be with them. Also, I’m a really clean boy. I wash every bit of my fur every day and don’t miss a single spot.

I would love to find my forever family so that I can share my silliness and all my love. If you would like to meet me, I'm ready when you are.

NOTE 1: Spays, neuters, first vaccinations and vet checks are included in the adoption fee.

NOTE 2: Because a young kitten needs feline companionship, it is the policy of Cat Rescue Network that kittens 6 months or younger be adopted out in pairs unless there is another kitten or young cat already in the home.

NOTE 3: Cat Rescue Network only adopts their cats to homes in the National Capital region of Canada
