TEDDY's Story

Meet Teddy – the sweetest, adorable little tuxedo! ?

We’d love for you to meet Teddy, a 4-month-old tuxedo kitten who weighs about 5 pounds.

Notice we didn’t say “the sweetest, adorable, disabled” little tuxedo—because although Teddy has only three legs and one uniquely shaped ear, he certainly doesn’t see himself that way. In his mind, he’s just a happy, playful kitten, living his best life!

Teddy’s story began when he was cruelly abandoned at a managed feral colony. Thankfully, rescuers quickly realized he wasn’t feral at all—just hungry, very scared, and in need of help! A vet determined he’d suffered some type of trauma to his right front leg and right ear. Although he has lost the upper part of his ear, the rest of it has healed nicely on its own, and the vet confirmed that this has not affected his hearing. And because his leg had permanent nerve damage, the vet recommended amputation as the best choice. He has bounced back beautifully from that surgery, purring even throughout his staple removal!

Teddy has been thriving in his loving foster home. His foster mom says he’s inquisitive, friendly, and social with everyone—cats, dogs, and people alike. He’s not always a huge fan of being picked up and held, but when he’s ready for snuggles (often in the evenings), he will sleepily melt into your arms.

This brave little guy has a great appetite, uses his litter box like a champ, and rides calmly in a crate. And he loves his toys! In fact, the day after his surgery, he was already scampering around the house, looking for toys to play with!

We’d love to see Teddy join a family with another young, playful cat for companionship. Because of his special history, a home with gentle children (not toddlers) would be best, in order to avoid accidental injuries. He does have his claws, but Teddy should remain indoors—for obvious reasons.

Teddy is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and negative for FIV and FeLV.

Adoption fee: $75

If you think Teddy could be your perfect feline companion, please visit foreverhomek9rescue.org to review our adoption process and download an application. You can also email us at foreverhomek9rescue@yahoo.com for more information.

Special thanks to Doris Fortuna and Ashley Whitehead for capturing Teddy’s adorable photos to help him find his forever home!
