Happy Fall! The calendar might say we are in the "ber" months, but the temperatures are still warm! That means we are still struggling through kitten season. We desperately need to make room to get Moms, kittens and other cats in and fixed before the cold comes. Please consider adopting! And tell your friend to adopt too! We still have lots of kittens and some of our older cats have been here awhile, so there is a cat for everyone!! Remember, <br/>adopting saves TWO cats lives! My name is Teal. Ummm, I don't know what else to say because I'm a little scared. I'm going to let the person from the shelter tell you about me because I don't know what to say. Bye! <br/><br/>Okay Teal, you did a good job sweetie! Poor Teal! He has been waiting for a home for over 365 days! That's a year! <br/>If you've ever had a very introverted friend <br/>(or are yourself) you should be able to know how Teal feels and bond well with him. Teal has been waiting for a home for awhile because he is so shy. We couldn't even get a really good picture of him but trust us, he is a cute MiniPanther! He is unable to go to adoption events because he would just hide and it would be stressful. Teal was caught outside by a local business who wanted to help him and a friend he came in with, Sammy (you can see Sammy's profile here too). Teal is NOT feral, he has never been mean just terrified. Sometimes the shelter isn't an ideal place for a shy cat to feel safe, but quiet homes are. Teal loves pets and will roll over and make cute little meowing sounds. He purrs like a champ and meows and plays, but only in his safe space.. his cage. He doesn't like leaving his cage at the shelter but other kitties go in and play with him and he loves it. He gets better everyday, but we really feel he needs to get out of the shelter and into his forever home so he can bond with a person or family. <br/>We rarely know the stories of the kitties that come from outside but most are dumped pets that shut down from the trauma of losing their homes and being forced to fend for themselves outside. Poor Teal is probably one of these kitties and is just really scared and needs a loving person (or people) and quiet home to help him feel safe. Please consider being Teals hero!<br/>If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please give Teal the chance to be a happy kitty. He deserves it! He is extremely sweet and calm and we are sure he will probably be the best kitty ever! You would be helping a kitty that REALLY needs some extra help! Teal has his own "room" there and you can visit him! <br/>Teal would definitely need a more outgoing kitty sibling. If you have another kitty that would be the best for Teal so he has another kitty to show him he is safe in his new home. We are hoping once Teal is in a quiet home, he will blossom into the kitty he wants to be. Our volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to gain their trust to show them they are safe and no one will hurt them. However, when the kitties go to a new home, some will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months.
