Tango's Story

Meet Tango

Tango is an orange tabby who showed up going door to door in an Ohio neighborhood during one of the cold winter stretches, clearly trying to find somewhere warm and safe. He wasn’t hiding or feral — he was asking for help. A kind woman let him into her garage and reached out to Purrfect Haven Cat Rescue and TNR so he wouldn’t have to keep fending for himself.

We scanned him for a microchip and posted him on all the lost and found sites, hoping someone was missing him. No one came forward. As hard as that is to accept, it meant Tango needed a fresh start.

From day one, he’s been the type of cat who leans into attention and wants to be near people. He’s affectionate, easy to handle, and clearly used to being cared for. He’s the kind of cat who follows you around just to see what you’re doing and happily settles in for pets whenever you sit down.

During his exam we learned he was already ear-tipped, and he tested FIV positive (and FELV negative). FIV sounds scary to some people, but cats with FIV often live long, normal lives right alongside FIV-negative cats with regular care and a safe indoor home.

Tango didn’t choose to end up outside on his own, but he hasn’t let that change his personality. He still trusts people. He still wants connection. What he really needs now is a home where he doesn’t have to wonder if he’ll be warm tonight or if someone will come back for him — a place where he’s simply somebody’s cat again.
