With treatment and care, he’s been doing wonderfully and hasn’t needed any medical intervention in months. While this condition can sometimes relapse, with monitoring and an understanding adopter, Taj is expected to continue living a happy, healthy life.<br/><br/>Taj is a little more on the needy side, but in the best way—he thrives on companionship and will be your shadow, best friend, and biggest fan.<br/><br/>If you’re looking for a super sweet cat with a heart full of love (and a voice to tell you all about it), Taj is waiting to meet you.<br/><br/>Taj is FIV positive which is not a death sentence. FIV positive kitties can live long full lives even with other kitties.<br/><br/>Here's why FIV in cats is not what many people think:<br/><br/>1. FIV is not a death sentence:<br/><br/>Many FIV-positive cats can live long, healthy lives with a normal lifespan, especially with proper care.<br/><br/>FIV is a slow virus and can take years before it has any noticeable impact on a cat's health.<br/><br/>Some FIV-positive cats never show symptoms of the virus.<br/><br/>2. FIV is not easily transmitted:<br/><br/>FIV is primarily spread through deep bite wounds, usually from serious fighting, and not through casual contact like sharing food bowls, litter boxes, or mutual grooming.<br/><br/>The virus is fragile and does not survive long outside the body.<br/><br/>FIV is species-specific and cannot be transmitted to humans, dogs, or other non-feline animals.<br/><br/>3. FIV-positive cats can live with FIV-negative cats:<br/><br/>If introduced properly and kept indoors, FIV-positive and negative cats can coexist peacefully without a high risk of transmission.<br/><br/>Spaying and neutering cats can reduce fighting behavior, minimizing the risk of bite wounds.<br/><br/>4. FIV-positive cats still need love and good care:<br/><br/>Just like any cat, FIV-positive cats require a high-quality diet, regular veterinary checkups, and a low-stress environment.<br/><br/>Being kept indoors is especially important for FIV-positive cats to minimize exposure to potential infections.<br/><br/>5. A positive FIV test doesn't automatically mean a cat has Feline AIDS:<br/><br/>FIV is similar to HIV in humans, but being FIV-positive doesn't equate to having Feline AIDS.<br/><br/>Feline AIDS, which describes the later stages of the disease, may take years to develop or may never occur.<br/><br/>In conclusion, FIV is a manageable condition that should not prevent cats from finding loving homes. We do all in our power to assure our rescues are as healthy as possible and live a long happy life.<br/><br/>There is always a chance that an animal we have rescued will have a genetic health issue (since they are rescues there is no way that we can know their family history) or one of our tests falls in that low percentage of false-negative category or a they contract a rare disease that we have no way of knowing about or they contract under your care. We cannot guarantee 100% that your pet will live the 15 to 20 years we hope for but with all that we do for them, the chances are incredibly strong that they will.<br/><br/>Transportation fees, when applicable, vary by distance/expense.<br/><br/>Home checks may be conducted.<br/><br/>We are asking for an adoption donation of $168.<br/>On most animals, a tax-deductible adoption donation of $168 is required upon approved adoption application. (This is a fraction of our vet expenses and you are always welcome to donate more.)
