Sylvester's Story

This is one special little dude! Sylvester had a pretty tough start to his kitty life and there are scars-a-plenty to show for it., from the tip of his nose, to his Pikachu like lightning bolt tail. Not one bit of it will slow Sylvester don't however and all he wants is to be LOVED so he can return that love at every opportunity. Sylvester may display a lot of insecurity in his day to day life, but just the slightest assurance to his safety and encouragement that his company is desired, and this little guy will explode with happiness he sometimes finds hard to contain. Sylvester would do best is a quieter home with just a little space to keep his favorite sleeping cubby and run/play when the mood hits him. He is particularly fond of his fellow foster cat Pistachio and her quiet nature, and the fellow kitties in his foster home are very curious and adore his company. Higher energy environments (happy dogs, playing children) are likely to scare Sylvester and prompt him to hide, so exposure should be limited, but this guy can adjust with lots of love, practice, and patience. Sylvester appears to have neurological challenges especially around his short term memory. A lot of patience and repetition is needed to assure Sylvester that he is safe and he is prone to hiding under couches and beds as a safety mechanism. Gradual but steady improvement has been seen in his foster home, and his foster mom is very happy to report that even if he doesn't always remember her or is hesitant to engage most days, it only take a touch to his head and a reassuring word for Sylvester to become one very happy and engaged kitty - wrapping himself around legs and coo-meowing for more affection and play, Most nights he prefers to sleep on top of the bed with other kitties rather than under it. Worry not about his day to day kitty habits - even with his physical challenges Sylvester has no issues finding his food bowls wet and dry, drinks from multiple water sources (bowls and fountains), and his foster mom reports he has the best litter box habits she has seen in years. He is tidy with his digging and never misses. Come meet this very special kitty and see how much love he is ready to give.

If you are interested in adopting, please submit the application below and submit the $5 application fee. Please also take the time to review our adoption requirements including our vaccine and preventative requirements for existing pets in the home.
