Meet Sydney
Name: Sydney
Gender: Female
Date of Birth: October 31, 2021
Sweet Sydney came to Arthur Animal Rescue in June of 2023 with 5 sick kittens in tow. She was a young mama who was also born outside and was ready for a nice life indoors. After proper medication, weaning her kittens, and seeing them all go into their forever homes, Sydney patiently waited for her family to find her.
Sydney was previously listed for adoption for nearly 8 months, and only one family came to meet her. It’s often difficult for adult cats to find a home, but Sydney has the added challenge as she is also FIV+. This means she has a slightly weakened immune system, though she’s been asymptomatic since healing from her URI nearly a year ago. Sydney has lived in her foster home with dozens of other cats and kittens and has done amazing. We have no worries of Sydney adjusting to a home with other feline companions who do not have FIV.
Sydney is the sweetest and most lovable girl and she is an AMAZING leader with younger cats. Sydney loves to watch over them and ensure they are playing safe, and is always willing to snuggle them close for a nap. She currently lives with a large dog and loves to watch her play and doesn’t get bothered when she barks a little. Sydney would do well in a home with older children who respect her boundaries and are gentle with her.
Everything was going great for Sydney and she was thriving in her foster home, then in March of 2024, it was discovered that Sydney had Squamous Cell Carcinoma (cancer) that required her ear to be amputated. Our fantastic vet team took great care of her and she’s now been cleared to be relisted for adoption.
Don’t let Sydney's slightly rough exterior fool you; she is still a beauty queen to us! She is like a shadow and will follow you anywhere you go. Her nickname is Floppy Cat because she will flop down in front of you for pats and attention. Like her nickname, her favourite toy is a floppy fish - and she will play with it for ages. Sydney also likes to "help" her foster mom with laundry!
