Suzy's Story
Suzy lived a peaceful life as a beloved community cat in Copperas Cove for over a decade. When she had initially appeared to her caretaker, she had already lost the use of one eye, but that didn't slow her down one bit. However, in February 2025, Suzy suffered a suspected snake bite that severely damaged her good eye, leaving her fully blind and unable to safely navigate life outside. So, in April Suzy came to Shadow Cats!

Within months Suzy had adjusted to her new life at the sanctuary (and being blind) and is getting around extremely well now. Suzy LOVES being outside on the catio so having a safe, enclosed, outdoor spot for her to hang out is very important. She will even scratch at the cat door in the mornings if we are even a little late opening it for her!

Suzy also enjoys hunting her toys, especially catnip filled, and will walk around screaming with it in her mouth to let everyone know she has hunted successfully. She loves being scratched on the forehead and will lean into it and even smiles! She also likes to sleep under the cat tree by the front door to hear all the comings and goings of Shadow Cats.
