SUTHERLAND's Story
SUTHERLAND was found as a stray. How long he was on the streets, or his background remains a mystery. From the many battle wounds he acquired from being on the street, it appears he had been fending for himself for quite some time. This guy came to us with wounds and a bad URI. He has since been treated and neutered. Still, despite the neglect and battles he has fought, and the poking and prodding he has endured at the shelter, he remains a sweet, friendly guy.

We do not know how he would be with children, but it would probably be best if he was in an older home, without children. He does not like other cats and probably would not tolerate dogs either. At this point in his traumatic life, he deserves to be the only and only pet! And boy does he enjoy the attention he is given when he doesn't have to compete for it!

The first half of SUTHERLAND's life has been dangerous, scary, and uncertain. He has been through enough. SUTHERLAND deserves to live the rest of his life in a warm, quiet home, with plenty of food, no stress, just love!

He seems to have permanent congestion when breathing but it doesn't bother him at all. Having Sutherland around is like having a toddler around that has a cold, his breathing can be sniffly and sometimes you have to wipe his nose. He LOVES food, treats, being brushed and getting attention. He is a very loving cat!

DOB-05/2017 Entered Shelter-05/2024

He is FIV+ but can live a long and happy life.

For great information on FIV+ cats please go to: https://iheartcats.com/5-reasons-to-consider-adopting-an-FIV+-cat

If you would like to adopt SUTHERLAND, our open hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, from 4:00 to 7:00pm, and Saturdays from 10:00am to 1:00pm. or please all 231-773-3030 to make an appointment.
