Sunkist 's Story

Meet Sunkist, aptly named for her sunny bright orange color. Sunkist is also one of those marvels of being a polydactyl cat. She was trapped at a feral colony in northern Kent County. Scared and a bit shy she was sweet and friendly so was kept and made ready for adoption at Second Chance.

Sunkist is still a little shy. When she was kenneled, she was comfortable in her small space. She played and enjoyed being pet, purring in satisfaction. She also had an inquisitive side and liked to play, especially with stuffed mice. Now that she is in a room she finds comfort in a cubby. She may seem reluctant for pets but once you gently start, she melts, and begins the sweetest purr. Sunkist is still acclimating but once her confidence builds she will be a fun, loving companion. Sunkist will need a patient adopter, willing to give her time to adjust all the while providing with her pets, play, and gentle words of encouragement. She would do best in a quieter, routine home with a single adopter, a couple, and possibly a family with older respectful kids.

We believe that kittens are happiest when they have another kitty to play with so Sunkist will need to be adopted with another kitten here or already have a young playful cat at home.

Sunkist has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Sunkist's approximate birthdate is 06/09/2025. Her adoption fee is $120.

If you are interested in meeting Sunkist or any of the cats at Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, please go to sccatswm.org/adopt to fill out an application, or stop in during open hours on Fridays from 11-2 or Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.

Please note - we can only adopt to those who live within a one hour drive of Grand Rapids.

Thank you!
