Summer's Story

Summer has a big personality. He’s outgoing, confident, friendly, and playful—pretty much the life of the party and always wants to be in the mix. He loves his sister, Winter, as well as his big “brother,” Paolo, who is his foster’s resident cat. Summer enjoys sitting in your lap, where he’ll purr contentedly and fall asleep, and when you get out the wand toy, let playtime begin.

Now seven months old, Summer was the last of his siblings to be rescued when he was about three months old from a construction site, thanks to the caring foreman. Although he was last to be brought inside, he was the first to decide that he loved people and the indoor VIP life, quickly wanting pets and excited to play. He is an expert biscuit-maker, often making them standing up to show how excited and content he is.

Summer must be adopted with his sister, Winter, who he is bonded with. They are a great pair because he’s easy going and confident while she is a little more cautious at first. He’s great at showing her the ropes and how she can enjoy everything he likes – pets, lap and couch sitting, snoozing, and playing. Summer is neutered, FeLV and FIV negative, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. He and her sister are so ready to find their forever home and provide you with years of joy!

Backyard Cats of Bed-Stuy's Adoption Policy
I ask that everyone interested in adopting a cat from me starts the application process by filling out my adoption application! The more details you can provide, the better. You can find the app here: https://www.backyardcatsofbedstuy.com/adoption-application Once I've received your application, if I'm interested in moving forward I'll reach out to schedule a Zoom call (or sometimes an in-person meeting, where possible). I often have the foster join as well to talk more specifically about each cat's personality and needs. If the meet-and-greet goes well, and if requested, the potential adopter can arrange a time to meet the cat(s) at their foster homes, or they can start out with a trial "foster-to-adopt" period of one month, to make sure it is a good fit for both cats and humans. A cat isn't considered "fully adopted" until they have been through proper vetting (spayed or neutered, given rabies and FVRCP vaccines, tested for FeLV and FIV, microchipped, and dewormed and treated for fleas). I love to stay in touch with my adopters and often receive updates about their new pets thriving in their forever homes!
