Sugar Ray's Story

Meet Sugar Ray.....named after the boxer because our Sugar Ray is a fighter. We have seen many sad stories over the years but this one is particularly sad. Someone put Sugar Ray in a plastic grocery bag, tied it up and threw him in a dumpster at a townhouse. Luckily, one of the tenants happened to be throwing out her garbage and saw a bag move so she rescued Sugar Ray. She was able to care for him for a month but her allergies did not allow her to keep him longer.

Sugar Ray is affectionate, sweet, and playful. His rescuer had grandkids who would commoner often and play with him so we know he does well with kids. Sugar Ray would be great for any type of adopter and even though he almost died has the ability to trust and bond with humans. He is priceless.

We believe that kittens are happiest when they have a feline friend so Sugar Ray will need to be adopted with another kitten here or go to a home with an existing, playful cat.

Sugar Ray has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Sugar Ray has an approximate birthdate of 02/20/2025. His adoption fee is $120.

If you are interested in Sugar Ray or any of the cats at Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, go to sccatswm.org/adopt to fill out an application, or stop in during open hours on Fridays from 11-2 or Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.

Please note - we can only adopt to those who live within a one hour drive of Grand Rapids.
