Stoker's Story

Meet Stoker, a sweet girl who is still figuring out new places and new people. She can be a little unsure at first, but once you start petting her, she leans right in and lets you know you are doing it right. Stoker has a gentle, quiet charm and really appreciates a calm approach and a little patience. Cozy cubbies are one of her favorite things, especially when she wants to relax and feel safe while keeping an eye on the room. With time and consistency, Stoker will be a lovely companion who enjoys soft pets, peaceful moments, and having a comfy spot to call her own.

Elmbrook Humane Society's Adoption Policy

If you would like to adopt an animal in our care, the first step is to complete our adoption application. Applications can be filled out online or in person and are reviewed same-day (as long as they are received during business hours). We are open for viewing from 1-6pm every day*. While there is no appointment needed to walk through the shelter and view all of the animals, appointments will be required to meet and/or adopt. Appointments can be made same-day when available or scheduled up to a week in advance with an approved application. Operating by appointment allows us to provide the best possible care for the animals and service to you. We encourage all family members in the household to meet the adoptable animal prior to adoption (this may be required for certain animals). If you are adopting a dog and have another dog in your household, we encourage you bring in your dog to meet their potential new companion (this may be required for certain dogs). *The shelter is closed on holidays and the last day of every month. **Beginning in 2026, the shelter will be closed on the last Tuesday of every month.
