Stellar's Story

Meet Stellar! This striking boy is over a year old and has the typical cat personality. Keeps to himself, will come to you when he wants love and will let you know when he doesn't.

Neighborhood dogs found Stellar when he was about 4-5 wks old. The dogs owner saved Stellar from being a toy and gave him to one of our volunteers.

Stellar was an absolute wild child at one point, but now he has turned a 180. He was the only cat in our cat room, then we introduced a mom and her kittens and oddly enough the wild child turned into a dad. He loved those kittens and he protected them. Now the kittens have all grown and been adopted, except one, Button. Button is Stellar's best friend, they eat, sleep and play together. He want from the dad role to the brother role and we would love to have these 2 adopted together.

Stellar will do best in a home with another cat(s). He wasn't happy being an only child and we think being around other cats is what mellowed him out.

Stellar has been around kids, but he chooses to keep his distance. Same with dogs. He does need about 24-48 hours to adjust to a new environment. He gets very scared of change and will growl and hiss for awhile. He does much better if Button is around though.

If you'd like to meet Stellar send us a message! Our adoption process requires an application, background check and home visit to be completed before any adoption is approved.

WARM - Waccamaw Animal Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
To begin the adoption process, adopters are required to fill out an application form. Upon receipt a volunteer will conduct a background check with your current or former veterinarian. If a vet is not listed, please explain why. Once a background check has been conducted and approved, a volunteer will email you to set up a meet and greet with the animal you are interested in. If you are applying for a dog and currently have dogs, we do require you to bring them to the meet and greet so that we can see if they will be a good match together. If all goes well with the meet and greet, we then schedule a home visit. It is important that we approve the environment where our adoptees will live the rest of their lives. It's equally important that they meet other animals that live in the same home. Once the application, meet and greet, and home visit notes are reviewed by the Board of Directors, a volunteer will contact you regarding approval or non-approval. We appreciate your kindness, understanding, and patience in this process. Please remember we are volunteers doing this in our free time, so the process can take up to a week or more depending on our volunteers and your schedule. We can't stress enough that these animals have been through a lot in their lives before they came to the rescue. Their well-being comes first. It is very stressful for an animal to bounce from home to rescue to home to rescue, etc. Our goal is to find them their forever home and to not end up back in the system or ever have to relive what they’ve already been through.
