Stellar's Story

Meet Stellar! This striking boy is about 10 months old and has the typical cat personality. Keeps to himself, will come to you when he wants love and will let you know when he doesn't.
Neighborhood dogs found Stellar when he was about 4-5 wks old. The dogs owner saved Stellar from being a toy and gave him to one of our volunteers. Stellar was an absolute wild child at one point, but now he has turned a 180. He was the only cat in our cat room, then we introduced a mom and her kittens and oddly enough the wild child turned into a dad. He loved those kittens and he protected them. Now the kittens have all grown and been adopted, except one, Button. Button is Stellar's best bud, they play and cuddle together. Stellar's a dignified boy that will come to you when he wants love, but don't bug him if he's not in the mood or you'll get a slap.
Stellar will do best in a home with another cat(s). He wasn't happy being an only child and we think being around other cats is what mellowed him out.
Stellar has been around kids, but he chooses to keep his distance. He does need about 24-48 hours to adjust to a new environment. He gets very scared of change and will growl and hiss for awhile, but once he realizes there is no threat he settles right in. This has been his pattern going from foster, to new home, back to foster and then to rescue. We suggest the best way to introduce a cat into a new home is to let them have a room to themselves for a few days with their water, food and litter. Let them adjust to new sights, sounds and smells in their own space. Plus, meeting other animals in a new home is best with a barrier! Then open the door at night and give them a chance to explore on their own when everyone is sleeping.
If you'd like to meet Stellar send us a message! Our adoption process requires an application, background check and home visit to be completed before any adoption is approved.
