Squeaky's Story
**NOTE: All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens**

***Squeaky needs a cat buddy to rely on and feel secure. Sister Sasha would be a great choice, but a patient introduction and gradual integration with a friendly kitty could work very well too.

Squeaky is a stunning, fluffy grey girl with a sensitive soul and a strong instinct for self-protection — a reminder of her early days surviving on her own.

Because she was rescued later in kittenhood, past key socialization periods, Squeaky came into foster care extremely fearful of humans. She is what we lovingly call a “spicy” cat: she does not want to be touched or handled, and attempts to do so can cause her intense panic. When overwhelmed, she may have fear-based accidents — not out of aggression, but pure terror. She is simply trying to keep herself safe in the only way she knows how.

That said, Squeaky has her own quiet charm. She enjoys cozy beds, safe hiding spots, and observing the world from a distance. Having a feline companion is essential for her confidence and emotional security, and her sister Sasha is an excellent match. Together, they provide each other comfort, familiarity, and stability, and would do best being adopted as a pair.

Squeaky needs a very patient, experienced adopter who understands semi-feral or fearful cats and is willing to offer a home with no expectations and no pressure — just safety, consistency, and respect. She may never be a cuddly companion, but she still deserves a peaceful life where she can feel secure.

If you believe every cat deserves a chance — even the scared, spicy ones — Squeaky (and Sasha) could be the girls whose lives you change for the better.

Would you like to make Squeaky, and maybe Sasha too, a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $275 for each kitten up to 12 months old. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.

All AVA kittens 12 months or younger must be adopted in pairs or go to a home with another young cat (3 years or younger). Kittens learn from each other how to behave, which helps them turn into well-adjusted adult cats. In general, paired cats have happier and healthier lives because they have a constant companion and playmate. Plus, it's twice the fun for you, and half the work!
