Sprite $50 Special Needs fostered's Story

Sprite is a sweet and affectionate girl who has been through a lot, but hasn’t let it dim her loving spirit. She came to us suffering from a skin infection from flea infestation which contributed to significant hair loss. Through it all, she has remained incredibly affectionate and tolerates other cats. Sprite’s gentle heart and resilience makes her a truly special companion, and she’s ready to blossom in a caring forever home.
From her foster mom: Sprite is a chill cat who also has a playful side, very sweet, low maintenance and just wants to hang out with you! She loves to give hugs and burrow her head into your shoulder while being carried. Her favorite toys have feathers.

*Sprite is considered a special needs kitty because she appears to suffer from psychogenic alopecia. This condition, a form of compulsive behavior, leads to excessive grooming and hair loss, where cats may lick, bite or pull out their fur to soothe themselves. It can be caused by stress, anxiety, or boredom. While it is often stress related, it can also be triggered by medical issues, such as allergies, parasites, including fleas, or mites, skin, irritation, or pain. Symptoms include thinning, fur, bald patches, and irritated skin often on the belly or back.

If you have questions about Sprite or would like to meet her, please email her foster mom at socialmedia@oconeehumane.org.
