Spirit's Story
That’s the Spirit!

Spirit arrived at EHS over two years ago—she was scared, undersocialized, and ready to stay that way. But this girl’s got a can-do attitude and a sprinkling of sass that serves her well when the going gets tough. With the help of dedicated volunteers, Spirit has become a gentle, confident purr machine, and a fan favourite at the shelter. Now she and her steady man Julius are determined to settle down in a loving forever home. How’s that for spirit?

ABOUT SPIRIT
- At shelter
- Spirit loves to play at night, taking advantage of her alone time and coming out of her cubby to explore.
- During the day, she is generally found curled up and cozy with her best buddy, Julius.
- Spirit is a sweet, calm girl; she’s soft and sometimes sassy!
- Originally skittish, she’s now a friendly, relaxed cat who loves to be pet by hand on her full body, but especially her cheeks, forehead, and back. She actually looks a little wistful when the attention stops and may give a gentle head-butt to get the love going again!
- Spirit has the loudest purr—volunteers call it a pigeon purr—which not only tells everyone how happy and content she is but also soothes the people and cats around her. And she purrs a lot!
- When the shelter is quiet, Spirit will come to the front of her kennel and watch the world go by.
- She enjoys playing with wand toys with the volunteers.
- If there are loud noises, or if she is approached too quickly, she may retreat.
- She has FIV, which is a virus that weakens the immune system of a cat but is not transmissible to humans or other species.
- A cat with FIV may be overlooked, but with routine vet care and a loving home, cats who have FIV can live a long, healthy life.
- Spirit is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and has received core vaccinations.

SPIRIT'S IDEAL HOME
- Spirit enjoys the company of other cats, which helps her gain confidence.
- Spirit is part of a bonded pair and MUST be adopted with her partner, Julius, who also has FIV.
- She would benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children or dogs.
- Spirit does not require medication for FIV but vet checkups twice a year are recommended.

This spirited girl is ready for life’s next great adventure. Drop by the shelter to meet Spirit and fill out an application today!

If you have any questions about Spirit or the adoption process, please contact cats@etobicokehumanesociety.com
