Spark (bonded to Cricket)'s Story

Meet Spark & Cricket!

AGE AT ARRIVAL: Spark - approximately 6 weeks old
Cricket -approximately 4 months old
ARRIVAL DATE: April 28/26 & June 26/26
GENDER: Spayed Females
LOCATION: Hamilton, Ontario
ADOPTION FEE: $350 for the pair
NOTES:
In April, Spark arrived at Hamilton Animal Services with a severely necrotic tongue and mouth. She was a stray, so it’s not known exactly what happened to her. It could have been an electrical shock, or some other serious trauma that caused this little soul to be in so much pain. We got her out of the shelter, got her the medical care she needed, and she has been doing wonderfully in her foster home ever since
.
Fast forward to June when we rescued a kitten from Hamilton Animal Services who had a fractured pelvis. We don’t know what caused the injury in Cricket’s case either, as she was a stray. No surgery was required, and after being on cage rest, we moved Cricket to Spark’s foster home and they became best friends!
These girls are two peas in a pod. They sleep together, play together and groom each other all the time. A perfect match!
Cricket and Spark are now healed from their spay surgeries, and they are ready for their forever home!

Here’s a note from their foster family:
“Spark is a girl who like to have a couple of best friends – other cats & her human. She takes her time with humans but will turn into a suck- flopping over for you to give her the love she’s after. Spark is relentlessly cuddly, very shy of new people, & the initiator of play. Spark has bursts of energy followed by sudden naps. Cricket currently occupies the role of Spark’s best cat friend. The friendship started the day they met & has continued to grow.
Cricket is happy to take her alone time for nap but is endlessly patient with Spark’s need to cuddle & play. Cricket is equally helpful in cleaning Spark as she is at giving kisses to her people. Cricket’s grumpy face doesn’t match her easy going personality. You can raspberry her stomach as she naps and she won’t budge.
Because of her injury, Spark needs a placemat under her food bowls, and a face wipe is required on occasion. The corners of her mouth need to be cleaned at night. Just a little scrape on each side.
Larger kibble bits are easier for her to eat, and she can only eat pate canned food (the chunks/flakes fly out the sides of her mouth).
Spark is the most food motivated cat, ever. She loves food and will rush to finish hers and race to eat everyone else’s.
Whether Cricket is patiently grooming Spark or Spark is coaxing Cricket into a game of tag, these two balance each other out perfectly. They’re sweet, funny, bonded, & ready to bring a whole lot of warmth to their forever home & their forever people.”

Please adopt Spark & Cricket!
Visit ladybirdanimalsanctuary.com to apply
