Soup's Story
Soup is just as cozy as his namesake.
He's sweet, gentle, wonderfully affectionate, and just wants to spend his days near his favorite person. He needs about ten seconds to decide you're trustworthy, before you can expect purrs, snuggles, and a handsome fluffy shadow following you from room to room.

Soup loves chasing sparkle balls when you toss them for him, hunting wand toys and the Cat Dancer, curling up in his cardboard scratcher, and enjoying the occasional cheesy cat treat. When Soup gets really happy, he needs to nibble your fingers. This is apparently an important part of the celebration.

Soup has just three canine teeth after an extensive dental. Every now and then it gives him a little lip curl that makes him look like hes doing his best Elvis impression. He eats a soft wet food diet and will need regular dental care to keep his remaining teeth healthy.

He also has dry eye disease and needs lubricating eye drops four times a day to keep his eyes healthy and comfortable. His drops cost about $30 per month, and his adopter will need to continue his care with an ophthalmologist. That may sound intimidating, but Soup himself makes the job remarkably easy. He is a gentleman about his medication. He's even calm and cooperative for nail trims, which, frankly, puts him ahead of a sizable percentage of the feline population.

What Soup needs most is peace.
Soup was originally returned to UCC after he was bullied by another cat in his home and began having litter box issues. His foster home has helped us understand him much better. When Soup feels threatened or chronically stressed by another cat, he may pee outside the litter box. For that reason, we are looking for a quiet, predictable home where he can relax and know that nobody is going to attack him. He prefers to be the only pet. A very mellow senior cat may also be an option, but Soup has made it pretty clear that a bustling multi-pet household is not his idea of retirement.

Soup asks for very little. He doesn't pick fights, destroy the furniture, steal food, or spend his evenings yelling into the abyss. He loves people. He loves being pet. He loves laps. He wants to hang out with you as much as possible and seems happiest when life is calm and his person is nearby. Someone who is retired, works from home, or simply enjoys spending lots of quiet time at home could be his dream come true. He may do well with respectful older children.

Soup has a few extra instructions in his owner's manual, but none of them make him difficult to love. He's an exceptionally loving and easygoing companion who just needs someone willing to care for his eyes, protect his peace, and give him the security he hasn't always had.

For the right person, Soup won't be a project. He'll be their lap warmer, sparkle ball chaser, Elvis impersonator, and devoted little friend who finally gets to exhale and know he's home.

DOB: 6/21/21

All cats are altered, microchipped, dewormed and given age appropriate vaccinations.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not have a physical shelter, therefore all our cats reside in foster homes. We do require a completed application prior to setting up a Meet & Greet in a foster home. Complete an application today! https://www.urbancats.org/adopt

Si necesitas ayuda en Español, por favor contáctenos a info@urbancats.org.

If cats are listed, consider them available.
