Sophie…Black and White Approx. 3-1/2 years old as of Jan 2017. She will be 4 around April 2017.
Sophie was brought into WPR as a kitten. She was adopted with her sister, but was taken back into WPR when her owner could no longer keep them. She was very stressed out when she came back in to WPR. This is a very normal response to losing the only family you have ever known. Her self-esteem took a big hit from this whole ordeal. When she first came back in she would get over-stimulated and would have separation anxiety. She is especially sensitive to other cats. Surprisingly her foster mom’s house was involved in the recent flooding in Waverly and they had to move out of her foster home. She did quite well and adjusted better than most of the other cats.
From Sophie: "I need to be adopted into a stable home with a patient, gentle and loving owner(s). As I have felt more comfortable, I am very friendly and outgoing and initiate affection. I love to be petted and will jump up into your lap to cuddle and be petted. I need to be adopted into a home with no other animals or children. A quiet and calm home with a set routine would be best for Sophie. She needs to be adopted into a home with experienced cat owners that can understand and continue to foster an environment where she is loved and accepted. She is doing much better with the carrier and going to the vet but we continue to work on and through this. The person that adopts her is going to need to understand how to properly pet her and handle her especially during times of change. She is such a sweet and lovable girl. She really is ready to find her forever home!"

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
