Sonny's Story

Hi! My name is Sonny and here is a bit more about me :

My Journey
I showed up in June 2024 at a feeding area for a small group of community cats, with a bite wound near my tail and clearly in need of help. Even then, it was obvious I was never meant to live life on my own — I’ve always been a people cat at heart. Despite a rough start and some significant medical challenges, I’ve healed beautifully and am now thriving, healthy, and ready to settle into a loving forever home.

My Social Life
People are my absolute favorite. I’m friendly, confident, and happiest when I’m included in whatever my humans are doing. Human companionship is what truly makes me feel safe, fulfilled, and happy.
Other cats ? Dogs ? I can coexist with other cats, but dogs make me nervous.

My Personality
Adventurous, confident, and deeply affectionate. I’m a natural snuggler who bonds quickly and loves close connection. I have an energetic yet secure presence and a big, loving heart. I’m curious, engaged, and happiest when I’m part of daily life with my people.

I Enjoy...
Going outside on supervised harness walks — I’m calm, curious, and take my "adventures" very seriously
Exploring a spacious home where I can run, play, and unleash my zoomies
Food! Meals, snacks, and treats are always appreciated
Boxes filled with packing paper that I can dive into and conquer
Being involved in everyday activities and spending quality time with my humans

I’m Not a Fan Of...
Being alone for long stretches or confined to a single room — I thrive on companionship
Covered litter boxes (I prefer open trays)
Fancy litter — simple clumping clay litter works best for me (Cat Attract is great!)
Intact male feral cats... no trespassing allowed

What Makes Me Special
I’m basically a cat–dog hybrid. I adore people, love leash and harness walks, and genuinely enjoy being your sidekick. My mix of confidence, affection, and adventurous spirit makes me a truly unique companion.

My Perfect Home
I’d love a home with plenty of space to explore — a catio would be a dream! I’m happiest with humans who enjoy interactive play, quality time, and are open to supervised outdoor adventures on a harness. I do best in a home where I’m treated like part of the family.

My Special Needs
I’ve had perineal urethrostomy (PU) surgery due to abnormal genital anatomy (possibly from prior trauma), as well as a full mouth extraction due to stomatitis. Both surgeries were successful, and I am fully healed, comfortable, and feeling great.
Because of my PU surgery, I’ll need biannual veterinary visits that include a urinalysis and culture to monitor my urinary health.

Additional Health Info
I feel good, love to eat, and enjoy an active, happy life. My past medical procedures do not limit me in any way — they simply mean I benefit from routine monitoring to keep me feeling my best. With proper care, I can continue to live a full, joyful life as a loving companion.
