Sonia's Story

Meet Sonia! This cross-eyed beauty has a personality and story that will melt your heart. Sonia was a Trap-Neuter-Release colony cat although she was friendly. Caretakers could not find a rescue with room to take her, so they got her spayed, vaccinated and released her back to the colony. She showed up reliably for meals, always purring and greeting everyone. In mid June, Sonia failed to show up for 5 days. When she returned, it was clear she had serious injury to her back right leg. We were contacted and knew Sonia needed immediate care. At the vet, x-rays showed her back leg was severely broken. Due to the fracture and scar tissue, her leg would be useless and our vet recommended amputation. Sonia has adjusted well and is now ready for a home of her own.

Sonia is a delightful girl. She is a lap cat, loves to be brushed, held and always looks forward to playtime. She has discovered the laser pointer and cat nip balls are her favorite toys. She is thrilled with being indoors now and tries out every new possible spot for taking naps. She loves any soft blanket or cat bed. Of course, a lap is always preferred.

Sonia is in a foster home with other cats and gets along well. She's got a very easy going, gentle nature but she will also engage in play chasing with the cats who want to play. Sonia can do stairs, but she does appreciate having pet steps to walk up onto sofas, chairs and beds, it makes it a little easier on her.

Sonia is about 2 years old, spayed, up to date with her yearly vaccinations and negative for Feline Leukemia & FIV.

To meet Sonia, please email Lori at apcatrescue@gmail.com
