Socks is a black and white tuxedo female rescued from a small colony in Beltsville, Maryland. She was originally observed as a friendly presence in the colony before it was discovered she had recently been nursing a litter. After veterinary care and reunion with her kittens, she has remained attentive and socially engaged. She communicates frequently with a soft voice and uses vocalization as part of her interaction style. She is playful in a gentle way and shows careful awareness of other cats as well as children. Her coat is short, glossy, and well maintained, and she keeps herself clean with regular grooming.
