Socks's Story

Socks will engage in a contest for his human companion's attention for petting but as soon as you give him a massage on the head and focus on him, he jumps out of reach and signals for you to come closer as if it were a game! He is attracted to all sorts of kitty toys for enjoyment.

His ideal home is with an individual or couple. Socks has not been observed around children, however, a meet-and-greet with kids will identify compatibility. He is happy wrestling and chasing his littermate Buddy and is outgoing with other cats.

Socks has a tuxedo pattern with white mittens on the front paws and white knee-high socks on the back paws! As of September 2025, he is 6 months old. Socks' adoption fee is $80.

If interested in meeting Socks, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application/

Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets's Adoption Policy
We all spend a lot of love, time and money on these animals and want to see them go to good, permanent, loving homes with people who have the knowledge and means to take care of them. OUR ADOPTION FEE is $180.00 WE ABSOLUTELY REQUIRE THAT ALL POTENTIAL ADOPTERS PROVIDE VET REFERENCES SO WE CAN CALL AND DETERMINE THAT ANY PAST OR EXISTING ANIMALS IN THEIR CARE ARE BEING KEPT UP TO DATE ON VACCINATIONS, PREVENTATIVES AND ARE SPAYED/NEUTERED. The reason for this is that we want to make sure that our animals are going to a home where they will be safe and healthy and be kept up to date on vet care. Most veterinary offices are familiar with this protocol so when you ask for a vet reference, they know what you mean. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL POTENTIAL ADOPTERS UNDERSTAND THAT ADOPTING AN ANIMAL IS A LONG TERM COMMITMENT AND THAT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF TAKING CARE OF AN ANIMAL LONG TERM. Also we need to establish that any potential adopter has a safe, fenced yard; and will provide shelter for the animal. We also want to ensure that they know how to introduce a new animal into their home, to their existing pets, to children, etc. We require all of our animals to be indoor pets. ALL ADOPTIONS MUST BE FINALIZED AND APPROVED BY THE FJCASP BOARD. This is to ensure that an experienced person has some oversight on the adoption process; to make sure everyone understands their responsibilities and that the animal will be safe. IT IS PART OF OUR CONTRACT THAT ANY AND ALL MEDICAL TREATMENTS, VETERINARY COSTS, PREVENTATIVES, FOOD AND SHELTER ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ADOPTER.
