Smooch's Story

Smooch wants to come home with you! Big ole Smooch was adopted from the city shelter back in 2024 where he was a staff favorite! Unfortunately, his adopters had frequently let him out of the house to the point where it was becoming unsafe. He was reported to be living in an alley and eventually started porch hopping where one of his feeders let him in hoping he could be his forever home. Sadly, due to a family emergency, they had to surrender him. Smooch may be big, but he is also a bit of a nervous guy at first and needs some time to warm up! He has been chill around other cats and learned to trust the people around him! He makes the weirdest little noises when he’s trying to communicate and is overall a really chill hefty guy. Smooch is looking for a quiet home where he can just relax and enjoy life! He’s already had bad luck twice so we’re hoping 3rd time is the charm for him! House of the Cat's Adoption Policy

Our process is a multi-step process that begins with filling out an application for us to review. We will screen each application thoroughly by confirming housing/pet policies, doing veterinary reference checks, and calling personal references. If everything comes back clear we will contact the applicant to schedule a phone interview during which we will discuss a time to meet the animal if we feel the applicant is a good fit. Once the applicant is approved they can meet the cat and take them home after signing their adoption contract and paying their adoption fee.

Our Mission

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and find adoptive homes for the homeless cats in Philadelphia. We also pull cats from shelters that are at risk of euthanasia or release back to the streets. We foster rescued cats and provide veterinary care until an adoptive home is found.
