Smile25's Story

✨ Smile: The silver supermodel with a soft heart and a blossoming brave streak.

Smile has grown from bottle orphan to elegant teen kitty, and she remains the undeniable supermodel of her foster home. With her luminous silver tabby coat, regal posture, and sky‐tipped tail, she carries herself like royalty - chest lifted, paws perfectly placed, and quietly observing her world with poised curiosity. She loves a hammock or bowl bed, and she keeps her feline companions guessing with playful ambushes and dramatic pounces. Her kitty housemates don't always appreciate her flair, but she respects boundaries and gets along with them all.

Shy at her core, Smile has always chosen her people carefully. But as she matures, her circle of trust is widening. She still adores her primary caregiver (foster mom) - draping herself across her chest for evening TV snuggles - but she now curls up in her foster dad's lap too, and even greets her foster grandfather at the dining table. Where she once fled from unfamiliar movement or prolonged eye contact, she now approaches calmly, sniffing hands and allowing more familiar guests to come within a foot of her without fear.

At PetSmart, she has surprised everyone by showing genuine confidence: approaching both humans and dogs with curiosity, friendliness, and a relaxed body. Visitors may still only catch a fleeting glimpse of her at home, but adopters who earn her trust will discover a deeply devoted companion who loves quietly, loyally, and with great intention.

Smile is endlessly curious - she watches TV with focus, peers into the toilet to observe the swirling flushable litter *show,* and investigates every new sound or motion with thoughtful interest. Her litterbox habits are impeccable; she even covers her foster mate's unfinished business with a sense of tidy responsibility. Her favorite toys are a flapping, chirping chargeable bird and sparkle pompoms of any size.

Like many bottle orphans, Smile once struggled with bite inhibition. Now, she has learned to stop herself. When overstimulated, she gives a clear warning - an open mouth, dilated pupils, a poised *I need space* signal - and if she does make contact, it's a gentle, glancing touch rather than a true bite. It's communication, not aggression, and she's become remarkably skilled at managing her own intensity.

Smile thrives in a cat‐savvy, patient home that appreciates a cat with regal poise, playful mischief, and a heart that reveals itself slowly but deeply. She may remain a bit of a legend to infrequent visitors, but to her chosen people, she is breathtakingly beautiful - inside and out.

💫 For the adopter who understands that trust is earned, Smile will be a once‐in‐a‐lifetime companion. For more information or to apply to adopt, please go to: https://www.purrpartners.org/adopt/

Purr Partners's Adoption Policy
~You must be willing to make a 20 year commitment to the cat or kitten you want to adopt. ~Must be 21 years of age and able to provide a valid driver’s license or photo ID with your current address. ~All pets in your home must be sterilized and current on vaccinations, heartworm meds, etc., unless there is a medical reason validated by your veterinarian. We STRONGLY believe that all cats should have an annual vet visit even if they never go outside. ~You must be willing to provide veterinary references for current and/or past pets or at least three personal/professional references if you have never had a pet. ~You must be willing AND able to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment, and appropriate care for your pet for its entire lifetime (i.e. annual vet visits, procedures recommended by your vet, emergency care as necessary.) ~Kittens under the age of 4 months must be adopted in pairs unless there is currently a cat in the home that is under five years old. ~For kittens under the age of 4 months, children must be at least 5 years old unless there is a current cat in the home. ~For certain breeds and dogs that do not currently live with a cat, or at our request, you must agree to a home visit and a dog test before the application can be approved and adoption finalized. ~Because our cats are in foster homes and all of our foster parents are volunteers, we cannot arrange a meet and greet with a cat or kitten until your application has been submitted and approved. ~If there are multiple applicants for the same cat or kitten, we will choose what we consider to be the most appropriate applicant for that particular animal. Each of our rescues have different personalities and needs, and we know that every home is not appropriate for every cat or kitten. ~Applications submitted on the weekends cannot be processed until Monday or Tuesday, holidays and other factors may slow this process. We require at least 2 business days to process the application and contact you. Once you have submitted your application, please contact your veterinarian and authorize the release of your veterinary records. ~Not all require this, but many do, and it will help speed the process. ~We do not hold cats. Once an applicant is approved, the adoption must be completed within 48 hours unless specific arrangements are made with the rescue. ~If an online application is approved, and the cat or kitten is scheduled for an adoptathon, the approved adopter must show up at the beginning of the adoptathon on the day the cat or kitten will be at PetSmart. After 15 minutes, the cat becomes available to any approved adopter waiting.
