Slava's Story

Black beauty Slava was born outdoors during the winter and was rescued as an older kitten. As a result, Slava is very friendly and sweet but cautious at first meeting. She needed some time for socializing when but now enjoys petting and attention and human company. She loves to play and has really built up her confidence. Although she is good with other cats, a quiet home with attentive cat parents would be best for her. Would you like to make Slava a part of your family? Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping. Action Volunteers for Animals - Durham Region's Adoption Policy

All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens. AVA does not adopt out of province or out of country. Adopters should live within a one-hour radius of our locations in the Greater Toronto Horseshoe Area (GTHA). Due to the overwhelming volume of applications we are receiving, a response to short-listed applicants may be delayed. While we endeavour to contact short-listed applicants within 48 hours, a response may take up to a week. Adoption Fees Standard adoption fees for cats and kittens include vetting, spay/neuter, two dewormings, microchip, and initial vaccine at the time of adoption (FVRCP and rabies if age-appropriate). Additional fees may apply for cats who have had, or are due for, vaccine boosters prior to adoption. Testing for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) or Feline Leukemia (FeLV) is is not included unless specifically indicated, as testing is not standard practice. Adult over 1 year: $250 (with initial vaccine) Adult over 1 year: $325 (with second/booster vaccine at $75) Kitten or juvenile under 1 year: $275 (with initial vaccine) Kitten or juvenile under 1 year: $350 (with booster vaccine at $75) Seniors (10+ years) and special needs: $200 Special breeds: Starting at $250 – a $75 fee may be applied for special breeds who have had a booster administered prior to adoption.
