Slapjack's Story

Meet Slapjack!

Slapjack is a 3-year-old spicy little guy with a big personality hiding underneath all that caution. 🖤

Right now, this shy dude spends most of his time tucked away hiding, and honestly, we can’t blame him — the shelter is a stressful place for a cat who prefers life on his own terms. While he will allow pets, Slapjack is very good at letting you know when he’s had enough. Because of this, he’s looking for a quieter home with kids 10+ who can respect his boundaries and give him time to decompress.

Slapjack is front declawed and also has “puffy pad disease,” an immune-mediated condition that causes swollen and sometimes painful paw pads. The condition often responds well to long-term treatment with steroids and antibiotics, but he’ll need an adopter committed to keeping up with his care and helping him stay comfortable.

We’re still learning how he feels about other cats and dogs, but we’d be happy to check for interested adopters!

Truthfully, we’d just love to see Slapjack out of the shelter environment so we can watch him relax and show us more of who he really is. Right now, we only have a couple photos because he mostly stays hidden — but we know there’s a cat in there who’s waiting for the right person to understand him. 🐾

He is fixed, FELV/FIV negative, microchipped, and ready to find a patient home of his own.
