Skipper's Story

Hi, I am Skipper, 2 year old female. I wanted to provide a little information about Skipper. I've been fostering her for over a year (from December 2024 - March 2026) and she's the best kitty. Skipper has a normal "tortitude" and can be shy at first. She is VERY food motivated so wet food and churus will quickly win her over. She does great with a routine and is used to getting a spoonful of wet food each morning - it's a great way to build a relationship with her. Skipper likes back scratches and pets but she does not love her face being touched or scratched (she just appears afraid of it which is so weird because she's been with us her whole life but just a preference of hers I guess!). She does seem to startle pretty easily and always has even since she was a small kitten. Some would describe her as shy but I think she just is more insecure and startles easily. When she feels safe and comfortable she's very social. Usually even with someone new she's curious and will kind of be in the same room and watching them - and once they win her over with a treat or churu she's happy to get pets and attention. She can be dominant with other cats and wants them to know she's the boss, but also will back down and let another cat dominate IF SHE CHOOSES TO 😊As always before adoption, all cats are spay/neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, given distemper and rabies vaccines if old enough, flea and dewormer treatments if necessary.

The Pat Brody Shelter for Cats's Adoption Policy
Standard Adoption Policies You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt from us and must have your landlord’s permission if you are living in an apartment. We may request a written letter of consent from your landlord. Donation prices for our cats range from $250.00 - $400.00 depending on the age, health, breed and disposition of the cat. Special breeds and exotics can be a little mor. We are only able to accept cash or checks at this time. Prior to adoption, all of our cats and kittens have been vet checked, micro-chipped, had rabies and distemper shots, been tested for FeLV/FIV, treated for ear mites and fleas, de-wormed, spayed or neutered, and given any other necessary medical care. (The only exception is that some kittens are not yet old enough to have their rabies shot.) We reserve the right to refuse to adopt a cat to anyone we feel would not provide a good home. If you have other pets in your household, they must be up-to-date on vaccinations before you adopt a new kitty from us. We require that each adoptive person sign a contract that they will NOT surgically declaw any cat adopted from us. We would be happy to adopt to you a cat that came to us already declawed. Kittens under the age of 4-5 months MUST be adopted in pairs, unless you already have a young cat at home. We have seen that kittens do much better developmentally and socially when they have a playmate to interact and grow with. This is a general guideline, and some kittens 4 months and older must still be adopted in pairs if they are bonded to other cats. The youngest kittens we will ever adopt out are 8 weeks old. Kittens younger than this are infants and still rely on their mother for many things.
