Sissy's Story

“In ancient times, cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this.” (Terry Pratchett). Unfortunately, some people have. I am an adult cat who was left in a carrier by the dumpster behind Paws and Claws the evening of December 3, a night when the temperatures were dropping well below freezing. Luckily a staff member saw me and brought me indoors before I got too cold. I’m called Sissy, and I was understandably nervous. If people approach me slowly, I do like being petted. Now that I have a comfortable bed and good food to eat, my body has warmed up. With care and attention from kind human beings, my spirit will become more open and trusting as well. Maybe someone will discover the goddess that lives within me so that I can be someone’s special Sissy girl someday soon.

Adoption fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax

IMPORTANT UPDATE Although our shelter is open to potential adopters during the viewing hours listed on this page, Paws and Claws prefers to schedule viewings and adoptions by appointment. To make an appointment to meet and adopt one of the companion animals on our Website, we ask that you fill out an online application. Potential adopters can either click on the ADOPTION APPLICATION link on the right side of this page, or visit our Website at pawsandclaws.org and go to the "Willing to Adopt a Pet" section, then select the orange "Adoption Form" box. This will allow you to access the Adoption Guidelines and Application Form. After reading the Adoption Guidelines, either complete the online adoption form and return it to us, or print the Adoption Form, fill in the required information, sign it, and email it back to us via info@pawsandclaws.org. You may list up to four animals that you would like to meet. We review the emails every day. We will process all applications in the order that they are received and then once your application has been approved, we will contact you and set up an appointment for you to meet the animal(s) and if possible, do the adoption on the same day you come in.
