Simone's Story

***Although her two babies are now grown and independent, Simone is still very much attached to them. Priority will be given to applications for Simone + her kitten(s). For the continued wellbeing of Simone, she must go home with either or both of her kittens, Cumin and Chili.

Hi, I’m Simone - a quiet, curious girl with a playful side you’ll get to discover.

Not long ago, my world was entirely outdoors. I raised my two kittens there, doing my best without ever knowing what it was like to live inside a home or be cared for by humans. When we were rescued, my foster was the very first human I had ever met indoors. Everything was new, confusing, and honestly… a little scary.

I may seem reserved at first, but when I feel safe, my personality shines. When no one is watching, I love zooming through cat tunnels, racing down hallways, and wrestling with my kittens. I chirp, meow, and happily entertain myself … I’m just a little shy about showing it off yet. I’m a generally quiet cat who enjoys calm surroundings and observing the world around me.

I’m still adjusting, and I like to take things at my own pace. Right now, I’m not quite ready for pets or cuddles, except during meals when I’m feeling especially brave (and distracted by food). Food is my love language. I love wet food and treats, and they’ve been helping me learn that humans can be trusted. With patience, consistency, and kindness, I know I’ll keep making progress.

Other cats make me feel safe and confident. I love rubbing up against them, asking for grooming, and snuggling close. I would do best in a home with an outgoing, friendly feline companion — someone who can show me the ropes and help me feel more comfortable as I continue learning how to be a house cat.

I’m polite with my litter box, I scratch where I’m supposed to, and I’m trying my best every day. What I really need is a forever person who understands that love doesn’t always look like instant affection. I may never be the boldest cat in the room, but with time and continued socialization, I have so much potential to blossom.

If you’re looking for a low-key companion and find joy in earning a cat’s trust, I just might be your girl.

Would you like to make Simone, and either or both Cumin and/or Chili too, a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $250 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
