Simon's Story

Meet Simon - a sweet soul ready for a soft landing

Simon may look a little rough around the edges right now, but we are hopeful someone can see past this to a heart of gold. He was living outside on the beach near a resort, doing his best to get by, but he can't safely return. The HOA traps cats in the area and sends them to Animal Control for euthanasia, so Simon is looking for a real chance at safety and love.

A recent vet visit showed that Simon's missing fur (on his face, tail, and even one lonely little toe) is manageable with the medications he's been given, good nutrition, and some rest, and the vet is optimistic that his skin and coat will continue to heal. He is FIV/FeLV negative and has been treated for fleas and worms. What he really needs now is consistency and care.

Personality-wise, Simon is an absolute gem. He's calm, gentle, and incredibly easy to please. He loves pets, especially chin scratches, and has the kind of quiet appreciation that makes you feel like you're doing something really right just by sitting with him. He's not demanding-just grateful. He's not yet a lap cat or one that enjoys being picked up, but maybe in time.

Simon's dream home is simple: regular meals, kind hands, and a sunny spot where he can curl up and nap without worry. After everything he's been through, he's ready to trade survival for comfort. He even uses the litter box like a gentleman.

If you're looking for a low-key, affectionate companion who will reward you with quiet devotion, Simon would love to meet you. We are asking a $40 adoption fee for his protection but the rescue will cover veterinary requirements.

Open Sands Kitty Rescue loves to honor our past and present military, healthcare workers, first responders and teachers with a discount- please inquire.

He’s currently being fostered in Panama City Beach, Florida, but don’t worry if you’re not nearby — transport is available to your location for just $50.
