SILLY PANTS's Story

***Staff thinks I will be ready by early December. Silly Pants is continuing to work on becoming his best self. He can still be quite shy and would rather approach you than have you approach him. He is comfortable with our 2 person household, but a recent visitor triggered him to hide until they left. Good news though, if your cat needs a cat, Silly Pants is your guy! He loves our resident adult cats as well as other younger foster kittens. He absolutely loves squeeze treats like Churu and is always down for a good cuddle session after treat time. He also really likes playing with wand toys, lazers, and small mouse toys particularly ones that crinkle. He would prefer a quiet family that can be patient and wait for him to warm up to you. Due to his shy ways, Pants may do best starting out in a single room where he can get to know your family better before free roaming. *** I am not currently at the shelter because I'm growing big and strong in a foster home! You can sign up to pre-adopt me by placing a $50 choice hold. This is a non-refundable fee that does not go towards my adoption fee, but it does give you the first opportunity to adopt me. Shelter staff will contact you when I’m ready to go home with my new family! To place a choice hold, you can either come into the shelter or call us at 719-302-8707; you may wait to speak with a customer service representative or leave a voicemail. Choice holds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one choice hold can be placed on an animal. Once I am old enough to go home, I will have to be adopted at the shelter without a visit. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to visit while I’m in the foster home as it’s a lot of stress on me to be transported back and forth to the shelter for visits, which makes me more susceptible to getting sick. We want to be healthy for our new life together!

You’ll notice each pet will have an info card attached to their kennel with an ID number. Write down this ID number so a matchmaker can give you more information. You will also be asked to complete an adopter survey to help our matchmakers assist you in finding a new pet that’s just the right fit. We limit visitations to two pets per family, per day. This ensures everyone interested in adopting has the opportunity to spend time with their potential new family member. Puppies and kittens 5 months and younger are not able to visit before going home for adoption. Please speak with a staff member for details. Once your visit is complete, you will meet with a customer service representative. We will review any special medical or behavior information and offer tips on how to help you get settled in. Please bring a photo ID and review any pet restrictions that may exist within your lease/rental agreement, HOA bylaws, or city’s ordinances.
