Sienna (and Kerillian)'s Story

Sienna and Kerillian are sisters, about three-and-a-half years old, and EXTREMELY sweet and EXTREMELY entertaining.

Sienna must cuddle on her foster mom's right side every night and if someone gets in the way, she sits and patiently stares at them until they move, and then she immediately hops up and cuddles up. She's an angel and cuddles and loves playing with wand toys and hangs out on cat trees when it isn't bedtime or couch time. She is very smart, but doesn't get in trouble, but rather teaches herself tricks so you give her extra Churus. She isn't terribly active otherwise, so is a really easy cat to care for.

Kerillian is super sweet and cuddles when she can, but won't compete for space, so doesn't get as much people time as she would like. If it were only her and Sienna she would cuddle more and solicits pets by rolling around on her back so you'll pet her belly. She is the one who is a total riot and endlessly entertaining. She's easy-going, but you know exactly what she thinks of something because she tells you all about it. Whenever you make her do something that isn't her idea, she does a cutest whine/meow/cry/yell thing you've ever heard -- while still doing it. Her foster mom is going to miss that noise when she eventually gets adopted. She also LOVES playing and does amazing leaps after the wand toy.

The only issue these amazing girls have is Kerillian has feline leukemia virus, which has caused her no health issues, but has so many stigmas associated with it that it results in so many prejudices that many rescues won't even consider adopting them out, and instead just euthanize. We are hoping that someone will give them a chance and not just immediately write them off because they are amazing and truly deserve to have their very own homes. And, again, Kerillian has had no issues.

Kerillian tested positive as a kitten, then negative on the gold standard of tests, then recently positive again. Her brother, the only one we thought stayed positive, is now regressive and as such will likely live a totally normal life. We think with a calm home she will live a normal length life, but FeLV is an odd virus (evidenced by her prior testing), so there is no way to predict what will happen. That said, you can never predict the future and any animal can get sick at any time. As for costs associated with FeLV, if they get sick with an upper respiratory infection ("kitty cold") or the like, they'll need to go to the vet a little quicker than a normal cat might, but even that isn't very common. If they are progressively infected, they can live shorter lives, but as she's perfectly healthy and has outlived the average lifespan of actively sick cats (by almost a year-and-a-half), we have every hope she will be around for a long time. In general, they don't tend to have significantly higher costs than normal cats based on information available from Austin Pets Alive!, a shelter in Texas who participated in the largest study on FeLV cats.

The reason they're still here is that they didn't go up for adoption when little kittens due to waiting on more FeLV testing; then they needed to go as a pair and pairs are harder to adopt out; then their foster mom had health issues; then Kerillian had the unrelated illness; and throughout this all they needed to go as a pair, continuing to add to their "unadoptability." And now Kerillian tested positive for FeLV again. Sienna has never tested positive and as they caught it from their mom (she was tested when they finally managed to trap her), we believe she's basically "immune" to it. (Just like you don't reinfect yourself with the same cold virus after mounting enough of an immune response to never get sick/fight if off.) Technically she should get FeLV vaccines, but it clearly hasn't been needed so far, so continued vaccinations should be discussed with your vet. (She did just her vaccinated for it out of an abundance of care and will not require a booster for two years.)

Both are fixed; Sienna is FeLV/FIV negative, Kerillian is FIV negative, but FeLV positive; up to date on all vaccines; microchipped with registration included; and comes with a complimentary exam with our veterinarians at Chewy Vet Care and a $50 gift certificate at Chewy to buy them all their favorite toys.

They are located in NW Gilbert, Az. If you're interested in her you can fill out the adoption application at linktr.ee/bottlebabykittens and feel free to email us with any questions!

They did recently get full checkups at the vet and other than a test strip saying Kerillian has FeLV, they both passed with flying colors. Their foster mom is well versed in FeLV and the stays up to care on research and is more than happy to answer any questions adopters may have. Additionally, all adoptions come with a free vet exam at Chewy Vet Care, so questions can also be directed to a medical professional.
