Shylo's Story
- Bonded with Houdini -

Shylo is a gorgeous 6-year-old white-and-black "cow kitty" with striking eyeliner markings and one of the sweetest little faces you'll ever see. She arrived at HART alongside her best friend, Houdini, after their owner sadly became homeless. Both arrived scared and unsure of the world, but with the gentle support of our Shy Angels Socialization Team, Shylo has slowly begun to rediscover her confidence.

Where Houdini tends to lead with affection, Shylo leads with caution. She can be fearful in new situations and may give a quick warning "whap" with her paw if she feels unsafe or overwhelmed - but once she understands she is not in danger, her soft, gentle nature shines through. She has made wonderful progress learning to trust people again and benefits greatly from calm voices, slow movements, and predictable routines.

Unlike her best friend, Shylo does not have any medical concerns aside from being a little overweight, so like Houdini and low-carb diet would suit her needs. Her needs are almost entirely emotional: patience, understanding, and the time to blossom at her own pace. She gets along well with her feline roommates and finds immense comfort in being near Houdini, who helps her feel grounded and secure. The two are deeply bonded and must be adopted together.

Shylo and Houdini would do best in a quiet, low-stress home without children or dogs. They will need adopters who can offer them consistency, gentle reassurance, and the willingness to let them open up on their own timeline. Once settled, they will reward that patience with quiet companionship, sweetness, and the kind of trust that feels truly special.

If your home has room for two sensitive, loving cats who have overcome hardship together and are ready for a new beginning, Shylo and Houdini may be the perfect pair.

To meet them, please fill out an adoption application. Our Shy Angels coordinator will be in touch to schedule a visit.

Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!

***FKA = Formerly Known As
