Meet Shy Baby Kitten
This shy baby kitten, estimated to be about 10 weeks old, has been at the shelter since early July. So frightened at first, he quickly learned to appreciate being held close by his volunteer companions, and also quickly learned to appreciate chicken! He is still a bit shy but we feel he is ready to go home with an adopter who is committed to finishing our social work. He does not now, nor has he ever scratched, swiped or tried to bite -- he just retreats in his cage when we approach him, but is a soft, sweet, purring, happy little guy once we get him in our arms. His adopter will need to spend a little time keeping him someplace where he can't hide while bonding with him in the new home. For this reason, a quieter home is best, rather than a home with dogs or young children who might want to chase their kitten around. He should be fine with other cats, but more important is that he bond with his human first.
This kitten has not yet seen a vet or been tested, but his mother tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. A state-mandated $75 neuter deposit is required to adopt any kitten, and is fully refundable upon proof of neutering (cash or check payable to Town of Scituate only, please). For more information, email ClayvilleCritters@cox.net, call the shelter at (401) 647-7200, or visit the shelter during regular hours: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri 7 to 11 a.m., Sat 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
