Meet Shuri!<br/><br/>Shuri is a beautiful female cat believed to be around three years old. She is one of the 38 cats recently rescued by Edgar and Ivy from a heartbreaking hoarding situation.<br/><br/>Shuri and the other cats were living crowded together in a very small space with almost no resources. They were suffering in the extreme heat with limited access to food and water. The cats were unsterilized, extremely thin, and many were suffering from upper respiratory infections. The psychological stress was overwhelming. Several of the cats, including Shuri, had groomed themselves excessively from stress, leaving areas of significant hair loss.<br/><br/>These cats had been through hell.<br/><br/>When Shuri arrived at Edgar and Ivy, our veterinary team immediately triaged her and began treating the physical effects of what she had endured. She received the medical care, proper nutrition, parasite treatment, and safety that she had been missing for far too long.<br/><br/>Shuri has now been treated for her medical conditions. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and on flea prevention. Her body is healing, her beautiful coat is beginning its recovery, and she will never again have to compete with dozens of other cats for the basic necessities of life.<br/><br/>For Shuri and the other survivors, recovery isn't only physical. Some are handling the psychological effects of their past better than others, and we are allowing each of them to heal at their own pace. Shuri is safe now. She has food. She has water. She has medical care. And she has people watching over her.<br/><br/>What she needs next is something she has never truly had: a safe indoor home and a family of her very own.
