Shroomie, the you-oriented Lap-Kitten's Story
Shroomie was born in April 2022 and she's all about you. Please read about her below and, if you are interested in having her come to you for a trial adoption, please send in your answers to the questions asked at the end of this description. Answering them when you write in will ensure a reply, but in any event if you are seeing this post she has yet to find a home.

Shroomie is a fuzzy-furred kitten with a white belly and white paws and otherwise light grey fur all over. When she's playing, she wants the toy to be you - your leg as a cat tree, your sleeve or drawstring as a wrestling partner, your hand or shoe as a chew-toy. Her instincts are gentle, but her energy is exuberant. She doesn't like to go far from you, but does also enjoy hopping about in a game of chase with others of her age/size. She can be adopted singly or makes a great pair with our rescue foster Fritz. Once she is tuckered out, she pulls herself determinedly up to wherever your lap is (say, a windowseat she has to figure out how to free solo climb) and trustingly curls up, knowing that a lap is her place of rest. As you might imagine, she is a VERY purry kitten, happy with life and her place within it. When you are not obligingly sitting down and bestowing belly rubs, she likes to follow you, less to see how she can help than to discover what new toys you are going to make for her with your body or clothing as you go about your day. She lost her sight to a (very common, but in this case untreated) babyhood virus in one eye (because of which her person asked the vet to kill her, but the vet called us in to see if we could take her and find her a home where the person would not mind her impaired sight in one eye, which is temporary in any case). Her eye will heal in a couple of weeks and in no way impedes her awesome abilities or social ways and activities. She's instantly friendly with new human and feline friends, she's vigorous (but not perversely destructive), and she's got the drill down, each time life throws a new situation to her to adapt to; she just uses her remarkable intelligence to figure it out and her natural sunny disposition to carry her through with always a purr going. She starts purring almost BEFORE your hand reaches her fur for a stroking session.

If interested, please send (to philoctete@mailbug.com) your answers to the questions below and, if based on them we feel you'd be a great match with her, we will reply in order to ask to exchange references (from us, you'll get contact information from previous adopters) and to set up a day for your trial adoption to start. Thanks so much for your time.

1. Do you intend to feed her dry food, canned food, or raw or homemade food? If dry and canned, what ratio of dry to canned and what brands? If dry OR canned, why? and what brands? If there is something you DON'T intend to feed her, why not? (We're passionate about diet matters at Affectionate Adoptions!) What type/brand of kitty litter and what kind of water do you think you'd offer your kitty?

2. What sort of domicile do you live in (rented, owned, house, dorm, trailer, etc.) and who lives there with you (please mention all humans and all non-humans who are in your care there, if any)?

3. What are your views, pro or con, about neutering/spaying?

4. Under what circumstances can you imagine parting with your cat after adoption? (We are 100% no-kill, so we always want to be notified if at any stage for any reason you do not want your cat to stay with you as family, so that we can find her a home.)

5. Can you help us determine if you and Shroom would make a good team? Please describe something about your leisure pursuits/lifestyle/interests and about your job, profession, or source of income. You can tell us anything you think recommends you as a responsible, financialy stable, interesting, caring, cool caregiver! You can also mention if you have previous experience caring for a cat or other non-human, whether as primary caregiver, sitter, or volunteer.

6. (Optional) Is there anything about Shroomie in particular that speaks to or appeals to you, in her looks or personality as described?
