Shelby's Story

Shelby
Short Hair Brown Tabby & White Spayed Female
Estimated Birthday: 2/13/2024

Meet Shelby 💕 This beautiful girl has quite the story. Shelby was found outside in the cold at the workplace of a kind good samaritan who had been feeding her. When the extreme polar vortex was approaching, a friend quickly posted on social media looking for help — and that’s when Shelby’s second chance began.

She was safely taken in and is now fully vetted through Tigerlily Cat Rescue — vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Shelby is estimated to be about 2 years old and is ready to find the loving forever home she truly deserves.

Her personality? Absolute sweetheart. 🥰 Shelby is incredibly affectionate, gentle, and wonderfully chill. She keeps a perfect litter box, does great when left on her own, and settles in beautifully. She absolutely enjoys pettings and loving once she feels safe.

Like many kitties adjusting to a new environment, Shelby took about a week in foster care to fully come out of hiding — but even then, she would come out to seek affection and attention. Because of this, we recommend her adopter start her in a quiet room of her own for the first few weeks, with frequent gentle visits to help her build confidence and trust. Once comfortable, she should do great gradually expanding her access to the home.

Providing a safe space with cozy hiding spots and doing slow, patient introductions will set Shelby up for success in her new home.

She has not yet been tested with other cats, so very slow introductions would be best. Because of her gentle nature, a home with cat savvy children 7+ would be the best fit.

If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion who will reward you with endless affection, Shelby may be your perfect match. 💗

Shelby is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, and has been treated for parasites. Her adoption fee is $125. All current pets must be fixed and up-to-date on vaccines.

Fill out our online application to get approved for a meet and greet:
http://www.tigerlilyrescue.com/adoption-application/

Tigerlily Cat Rescue's Adoption Policy
* We do require adopters to be at least 21 years old. * If you are leasing, we do ask that you provide a copy of your rental agreement showing that cats are allowed. * We also ask that all adults living in the home agree with the adoption and addition of a feline friend to the family. * For families with young children (under 6), kittens over 6 months are best. * If the pet is to be alone for a significant amount of time, we ask that you consider adopting an older kitten or adult, or consider adopting two kittens to keep each other company. Young kittens are susceptible to social-depression if alone for a significant amount of time. * We also discourage "gift" adoptions unless it is from a parent to a minor child. Our adoption fee of $100 (cash/check) includes feline leukemia/FIV testing, deworming, flea preventative, microchip, and age-appropriate vaccines. All Tigerlily cats are thoroughly examined by a veterinarian. All cats and kittens are spayed/neutered prior to being available for adoption.
