Shaq & Kobe's Story

Shaq and Kobe arrived at the shelter after some changes with their family situation. The boys were very overwhelmed at first and didn't want much to do with us but with patience and lots of treats and catnip they've opened up to us. They are sweet and gentle cats and are very bonded, we often find a tangle of black fur all snuggled up together. Both are affectionate and love a snuggle and we're starting to see their playful side too.<br/><br/>The boys are about 4 years old and the only note we have is that Shaq had some urinary issues back in 2023 that could have been cystitis so is something to monitor in their new home. <br/><br/>Shaq and Kobe are just about to move into our adoption room and will be in a private kennel for a bit while they adjust. We don't know how they might get along with other cats at this time.

Adoptable Animal Viewing Hours Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Holidays, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Closed all Statutory Holidays To ensure the best for the animals in our care, dog viewing is only available by approved application. If you see a pet you are interested in you can send in an application or email for more info. Applications are available at coquitlam.ca and can be emailed to adoption@coquitlam.ca. All the animals that arrive at the Shelter are stray. The information that we have on the animals has been gathered since their arrival at the Shelter. and with the help of our volunteers. We do our best to assess the animals and disclose everything we know regarding health and temperament to interested adopters We do not adopt outside of BC or ship animals. We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the h?n?q??min??m? word k?ik?????m (kwee-kwuh-tlum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the k?ik?????m (Kwikwetlem) traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the sq??c?iy?a?? t?m?x? (Katzie), and other Coast Salish Peoples
