Shakespeare's Story
Shakespeare came to Good Mews after being rescued by a kind-hearted Good Samaritan. This cautious boy takes time to adjust to new environments and people, often retreating to a safe spot until he feels comfortable. Because of this, he will need patient adopters who will give him the time and space he needs to settle in.

Once Shakespeare feels secure, his personality starts to shine! He loves sitting next to people, soaking up head and body pets, and being close by—though he’s not quite a lap cat yet. He’s full of energy and extremely playful, especially when it comes to string toys and catnip.

Shakespeare gets along well with other cats and would likely thrive in a home with a friendly, active feline companion. However, he is not a fan of dogs and would do best in a home without them. Due to his tendency to play bite and swat when overstimulated or scared, he would also do best in a home without small children.

He enjoys perching by a window seat to watch the world go by and appreciates having cozy hideaways where he can retreat when he needs a break. While he isn’t a fan of being picked up, he’ll make a wonderful companion for someone who understands his need for patience and a little personal space.

Shakespeare is FIV+ but don’t let that scare you! FIV+ cats can live safely with non-FIV+ cats as long as the kitties get along. They can also live long, healthy lives like any other cat. Our FIV+ cats are not separated from the other cats in the shelter.
