Shadow 's Story

Shadow is a coy companion for those who like taking long naps, head bumps, and quiet chirps.
Previously Shadow was on the at-risk list for distancing and defensive behavior which wasn’t
improving in the shelter. Specifically, Shadow flinches and distances herself at sudden
movements or sounds and swats sometimes if she feels threatened. In a house setting we have
seen this behavior significantly lessen with positive encouragement, intentional exposure, and,
of course, respect for Shadow’s personal space. We believe that if Shadow is treated with a
calm demeanor from her family she will flourish.
Shadow will come to you when she wants to be pet, actually she loves pets so much that she
will lean into you with her whole body, sometimes falling in the process and shocking herself.
She enjoys ear scritches and gentle pets down head and back.
In regards to our resident cat, there are some soft tensions. Because Shadow was in a home
with two other cats previously-and we don’t know the exact reason why she was rehomed-we
believe that Shadow could thrive in a single animal home.
This lovely girl is nine years old and experiences some tooth decay, she is also slightly
overweight-common issues at this age. She has behavioral needs which could be met by a
patient and empathetic caregiver.
