Shadow and Grisouille (bonded pair)'s Story
RESCUED CAT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION:

Rescuer Liz tells their story: Shadow and Grisouille were already young adults when they appeared about 3 ½ - 4 years ago. I started feeding them with the intent of helping them trust. Shadow, the black one, was very gentle and wouldn't push his way to the plate like the other cats! He'd wait until the others left the plate then he'd move forward hoping there would be something left. That's why I called him Shadow. I started giving him his own plate while the others ate. One day he showed up one day with his cheek badly injured. My friend and I trapped him (traumatizing for him!) and got him help at the vet (and neutered him)! I kept him in the house for 3 months but it was clear he was unhappy without other cats, so I released him and gave him the choice. He chose a combination of both! It took about 1 year for him to trust me enough to let me touch him. Since then he not only lets me pet him, he comes and asks for it. He has always been gentle with all other cats and with kittens. Because he was not neutered by the SPCA, his ear is not notched like Grisouille’s. Grisouille is also a good boy. He is a bit more nervous and jumpy than Shadow but if he sees me petting Shadow, he comes over and pushes his head into my hand. I have to pet both at the same time. Over time, the bond between Shadow and the Grisouille got stronger and stronger. When they are in the house, they are always together. They sleep together, they groom each other, and if one gets up to go eat, the other is right there following him. Both are gentle and non-aggressive. Since they have not had much interaction with other humans except me , they will need a special human who is patient and willing to give them the time they need to show how affectionate they can be.

Recent foster Teagan adds: Shadow and Grisouille are a very adorable bonded pair. Shadow is a rotund black cat with a very sweet spirit. Grisouille is a beautiful gray colour and he’s very cuddly. They are both shy and keep to themselves at first, but they open up after a little while. They love to cuddle with one another and spend hours basking in the sun together. Despite their shyness, they just need a good home and lots of love. They enjoy playing, lounging around, and eating. They bring me joy with just their presence, and I hope they find a loving owner.

Shadow and Grisouille are available for adoption through Cause 4 Paws no-kill rescue in Montreal. The low adoption fee includes sterilization, all vetwork to date, anti-parasite treatments, and vaccinations. All proceeds go to continuing rescue and trap-sterilize-release work for the feral cat population.

*please note that the adoption fee is 300$ per cat (600$ for the pair)

To meet this fabulous feline friend, please email montrealcause4paws@gmail.com or respond to this ad.
